Humanitarian visa in Australia

If you are facing substantial discrimination or human rights abuses in your home country, you can apply for a Global Special Humanitarian visa (subclass 202). This visa allows you to move to Australia and stay permanently with your immediate family. To be eligible for this visa, you must be living outside your home country and subject to substantial discrimination in your home country amounting to a gross violation of your human rights.

Australia’s Humanitarian Program aims to meet Australia’s international protection obligations and is one of the world’s most generous contributors to international refugee resettlement efforts.

To be eligible to apply for a Global Special Humanitarian visa (subclass 202) through the Special Humanitarian Program, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. You must be outside Australia (offshore) and living outside your home country.
  2. You must be subject to substantial discrimination in your home country amounting to a gross violation of your human rights.
  3. You must be proposed by an Australian citizen or Permanent resident, an Eligible New Zealand citizen, or an organization based in Australia.
  4. You must meet health requirements.
  5. You must sign the Australian Value statement.
  6. You must not have any outstanding amount under the Australian Government.
  7. You must have good and clean character and be free from any sort of illegal involvement in the country where you have resided in for last 6 months.
  8. You must not be residing in Australia.
